Room 7 – Sita

This room is our second new twin room and it’s named after Callie. Her middle name is Sita, after the princess in the epic story The Ramayana, depicted in detail on the walls of Angkor Wat. This room is decorated with art from Happy Cambodia, a painter who has been in Cambodia for years and depicts typical Cambodian scenes with color and clarity! Above the bed hang lights from Laos and picking up colored ball themes are pillows made by local artisans with round silk patches adorning silver pillowcases. This room is bubbly and bright, a perfect tribute to Callie!

Room 6 – Brodal Bedroom

You’ve made it to day 6 and our first new room!! Room #6, Brodal Bedroom is a named after Couper, his middle name is Brodal and it means fighter in Cambodian. As many of you know, Couper, like his daddy before him, lives up to this name and so does this amazing room. The pillows are all from Nikaya Handcrafted and the artwork are photos taken of traditional boxing here in Cambodia. We used a lot of black and red silk, matching the fighting colors most Cambodians prefer. The twin beds sit on platforms and the bathroom boasts our famous spa shower! The bay window has a window seat and we have our flatscreen TV over the minibar and a desk sits by the door under a stunning photograph of a Cambodian boxer! Welcome to Brodal Bedroom!

Two twin beds make this a great option for a small family
The Nikaya pillows match with the traditional colors fighters wear
The photographs of traditional fighting were taken at Angkor Wat
The bay window seat can also be a bed for younger kids
Just outside the room you can have breakfast or lunch under the big umbrella
Or just sit on your patio and enjoy the view

Happy New Year from Journeys Within!

To ring in 2012 we will be introducing and reintroducing our rooms at Journeys Within Boutique Hotel for the next couple of weeks. Each day we’ll tell you about another room at the hotel and let you know the reason for the name and décor.

As Maria would say, ‘Let’s start at the very beginning, a very good place to start”…

Room #1 Buddha Bungalow

For this room the art definitely came first. I found the split Buddha Head art at the Bangkok Weekend Market and I fell in love with it. Often these pieces come with a lot of glitter and adornment on them, but I liked this one because if its simplicity. The room is also the first room where we tried the platform beds and I’ve been a big fan ever since. We have a fabric headboard behind each bed for reading at night.
