Congratulations guys!

In the words of a TripAdvisor customer:

My husband and I just got back from a week in Cambodia, the first part of which we spent in Siem Reap. The whole trip was organized by Journeys Within, and in Siem Reap, we stayed at the Journeys Within Boutique Hotel. We had one of the upstairs rooms, very spacious and airy, complete with a balcony.

Our very grateful thanks to Michelle and her team, Makara, Sareat, the lovely restaurant staff, our awesome driver Chandrith and one of the best guides we’ve had the pleasure to meet, Sina.

We love the free laundry, the unlimited drinking water supply, the free tuk-tuk, the phone call from Narla, the Cambodia director of the tour company, who called when we arrived to welcome us and make sure that everything was to our satisfaction.

There’s not a thing they wouldn’t do for us, and we can’t think of anything they could have done better. They made us love and appreciate Cambodia. An enthusiastic, unconditional five stars to Journeys Within (we did not use the fitness center or spa and therefore did not rate these). After Siem Reap, we went on to Phnom Penh, that part of the trip was also organized by Journeys Within and was equally successful.

If you go to Cambodia, look no further than Journeys Within.”

Room 7 – Sita

This room is our second new twin room and it’s named after Callie. Her middle name is Sita, after the princess in the epic story The Ramayana, depicted in detail on the walls of Angkor Wat. This room is decorated with art from Happy Cambodia, a painter who has been in Cambodia for years and depicts typical Cambodian scenes with color and clarity! Above the bed hang lights from Laos and picking up colored ball themes are pillows made by local artisans with round silk patches adorning silver pillowcases. This room is bubbly and bright, a perfect tribute to Callie!

Room 5 – Ramayana Retreat

When we were first building our bungalows six years ago there weren’t many families coming to Cambodia. However, my parents wanted somewhere they could stay when they came to visit, so we built one bungalow that had a living room, two bathrooms and a small kitchen, allowing them to have their own unit. Of course times were changing, and Cambodia started to become more of a destination and my parents still haven’t enjoyed more than a couple of days in the Ramayana Retreat as we are constantly booked with families! This room is perfect for families with older kids, as the stairs are a little steep for smaller toddlers. The couches downstairs pull out to become beds and upstairs features a king bed and a large bathroom. Families love this room and the Ramayana paintings and carvings dotted around it remind you where you are!

The spacious living room and kitchen make this the perfect space for a family
All of the chairs and couches downstairs fold out into beds
The big bay window is a great spot to spend the morning reading, or the afternoon relaxing
The large upstairs bathroom is big enough for the whole family, or luxurious enough for the two of you
The upstairs king bed looks out over the balcony with a great view of the pool

Room 4 – Rattan Room

One of my favorite rooms, the Rattan Room, is named for the product of Rattan, which most of the furniture is aptly made from. Everything was made to order by our Rattan-Man and this room has a light and airy feel to it. The king bed faces the large bay window and being on the second floor this room has a lovely view over the pool.

Room 3 – Discovery Den

Named Discovery Den, this room draws on the colonial past of Cambodia with antique styled beds, large traveling trunks and fancy lamps. The art are all old photos of Angkor Wat being “discovered” by the French. This room features two double beds so is often booked by families and the window seat can even work as a bed for a child to give everyone enough room!
