Travelers Experiences Then and Now

Here at Journeys Within we are so lucky to have amazing guests travel with us multiple times over the years… Our lovely guests Kathy and Bob Haight just got back from their trip to Myanmar with us and had the below to say, of course the best part was they also found some old emails and photos from their first trip with us! So glad that the Journeys Within team made such a lasting impression then and now!

This picture is from Inle Lake. I think it is at the Phaungdawoo Pagoda. This ethnic group had celebrated their National Day the Day before, and were at the pagoda to offer thanks. Somewhere I have written down the name of the group, but I cannot find it. They were all sitting down and I sat down with them to have my picture taken. They wanted to include Bob, but he could not get down on the ground, so they all stood up, and this picture was snapped. They were so spontaneous and inclusive, it will always be one of my favorite memories. We had an outstanding guide in Inle Lake, Mr Nay Aung Win (his wife and daughter are also guides, and we met them during our touring.) He was so pleased to see this group (and one other) in the pagoda.

Hi Andrea and Courtney:

We are back home now, with many pleasant memories of our trip to Asia.  While a cruise ship is not the ideal way to travel, it did let us cover a lot of ground, and decide where we want to return.  And Viet Nam is definitely on my list.

I want to thank you for an amazing time in Myanmar.  Guides were excellent, hotels outstanding, and sights impossible to describe (but I have a lot of pictures).  It was an amazing experience, and you certainly managed to show us a lot of Myanmar in a few short days.  The balloon ride in Bagan was one of my favorite travel experiences ever.

We will always remember the wonderful people of Myanmar, as well as the sights we saw.   Thank you again for another special Southeast Asia experience.    It will not be our last.  And I could not imagine doing it with anyone but Journey’s Within.

Andrea, I am enjoying following your blog.  I hope you and the children are having a wonderful time traveling together in your favorite part of the world.  The kids have certainly grown up since I last saw them in 2010.

Thanks again,

Kathy

And then Kathy found this wonderful flashback:

Hi Andrea;

I was cleaning up my email before I switch to a new computer and I came across this one.  When we were in Cambodia in 2010, staying at your lovely B&B and visiting the area, you arranged a tour to one of the villages so we could see how the people lived.  Sothy took us to his village and we saw his home, met his family, drank fresh coconut water from a tree in his yard, and walked all around the area.  We met this old man who came up to us, speaking French.  He was so anxious to communicate, even drawing pictures in the ground with a stick.  We finally understood that he wanted his picture taken with all of us.  We used my camera and I sent the pictures to Sothy.  Here is his response.

This encounter is such a good example of what makes Journey’s Within so much more than just a travel agency.

Best Regards,

Kathy Haight
