We are thrilled that Cuisine Wat Damnak has gotten world-wide recognition with its spot on the 2015 Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list, a first for a Cambodian restaurant.

Named after a local temple located on the same road, Cuisine Wat Damnak is THE favourite special occasion restaurant in Siem Reap, the gateway to Angkor Wat.

Serving up a gourmet Cambodian culinary experience, Cuisine Wat Damnak truly is one of a kind.  Their aim to introduce guests to locally sourced, often rare ingredients and flavours that diners won’t be familiar with.

Set in a lush garden, the restaurant makes use of an updated Khmer-style wooden house, which gives the setting real ambiance and a sense of authenticity.

French-born chef Joannès Rivière has been in Cambodia since 2003, initially working in a restaurant that trains local students in the culinary arts. Later he moved on to becoming Executive Chef at Hotel de la Paix — the city’s premier hotel at the time — before opening his own venture in 2011.

If your idea of an upscale eatery is a pristine dining room, perfectly white linen clothes and snobby table service, then Cuisine Wat Damnak isn’t for you. What this tasty restaurant does offer is inventive and delicious local food served in a unique and comfortable atmosphere.

A big congratulations to Chef Rivière and the rest of the Cuisine Wat Damnak team for having their deliciously hard work recognized.
