Shinta Mani — A World Class Brand

Over the last few weeks one of our favourite partner hotels in Siem Reap has received some amazing and well-earned international acclaim. Unique personal touches, first rate customer service and a continuous, deep commitment to the community have earned  Shinta Mani the title of one of the best hotels in the world…

Shinta Mani has added to their already impressive list of accolades with last week’s award of #3 on the global Travellers’ Choice List of World’s Best Hotels presented by TripAdvisor, one of the world’s largest and most influential travel websites.

This recognition is just another feather in the already well-plumed cap of a hotel that in our opinion surely deserves the recognition.

We think anyone who is familiar with Shinta Mani or who has had the pleasure of visiting the hotel would agree that Christian de Boer, the General Manager, is the driving force behind the hotels success. This is not to say that he has achieved these accolades alone, but rather that he successfully fosters an environment where all staff — front desk, housekeeping, restaurant and otherwise — work very hard for a common goal. It is that goal, of creating genuine and meaningful experiences for guests, that puts the Shinta Mani team at the front of the pack and consistently has them topping the Best Of lists.

Christian’s success in retaining quality staff in Siem Reap, a city with an astonishing turnover rate, is a testament to how he and the Shinta Mani brand invest in the team that has made their properties successful.

He loves and genuinely cares for his staff and as a result, they take care of him and the hotel, with an attention to detail. Based on their global recognition, it would seem that guests are eager to recognize this relationship.

Located in the centre of Siem Reap, Shinta Mani cannot compete with private beach-front villas or large scale resorts in terms of location or magnitude. But with a well-trained, detail-oriented team, Shinta Mani has proven that today’s travellers are as wowed by top notch experiences as they are landscape views.

“This award from TripAdvisor offers irrefutable proof that guest satisfaction still derives from personal service and genuine hospitality,” said Christian. “To rank at the top among the world’s most famous hotels, with their private plunge pools, overwater spas, designer golf courses and personal butlers, this is the strongest testament I know to my team of 275 always going the extra mile for each guest, every single day.”

Amidst these extraordinary achievements is one that highlight’s the hotel’s dedication to the community; Travel + Leisure Global Vision Awards 2014 chose both Shinta Mani Club & Resort as the Runner Up in their Community category, for “involving locals at their very core, creating experiences for travellers that are all the more extraordinary.” Travel + Leisure editors praised Shinta Mani’s stylish, Angkor-inspired architecture as much as its community commitment.

Five dollars from every room night at both Shinta Mani Club & Resort is automatically donated to the Shinta Mani Foundation to support programs that change the lives of young Cambodians.

Initially the foundation focused on students learning English, general life skills, as well as specializing in one of the departments of the hotel, including culinary, finance, front office, housekeeping, maintenance, restaurant, or spa therapy. Ten years and 215 graduates later, it has also launched a sustainable-farming course and a microfinance arm, increasing the foundation’s community impact.

We here at Journeys Within couldn’t be prouder to work with Shinta Mani, a hotel brand that embodies the idea of creating top-of-the-line guest experiences in a sustainable and community minded manner.

Congratulations to the Shinta Mani team on all their recent success! We can’t wait to see what you have planned for the future.
