One of our best professional teams has fallen in love, so for this week’s Guiding Light we present the love story of Lyly the guide and Sivoin the driver…
Some stories are just too cute not to share and that of Lyly and Sivoin, I believe, is one of them. As a driver, Sivoin (pronounced G-One) met Lyly, who is a guide, on tour in early 2013. After spending countless hours together showing off the country they both love, it seems that a love blossomed between them.
Sivoin saw Lyly as a very nice woman who he would be honoured to date and grew to appreciate her unique wit and intelligence — she has helped him practice his English and supports his ambitions to one day move into the world of guiding.
For Lyly, it wasn’t so much love at first sight, but she jokes that it was his willingness to help out with day-to-day chores that won her over. Not much for cooking herself, she appreciated that after growing up with three sisters he had mastered more than his fair share of meals.
After convincing her to go out with him, Sivoin wined and dined Lyly first at the river front, then shortly after on the shores of Ocheteal beach. An old-school romantic and a true gentleman, Sivoin is a rare find, and although Lyly is hesitant to admit it!
Professionally we love this pair — Sivoin is always on time with a smile and an offer to help with your bags while Lyly know the streets and sights of Phnom Penh and loves showing them off.
Now engaged, the pair often work together for Journeys Within. Both professionals, they keep their personal connection a secret from guests, though I’m hoping this blog blows their cover!
As individuals they are great but now that we know them together we love them even more as a pair and can’t wait for next year’s Journeys Within themed wedding!
