The Rex, Majestic and Grand hotels are moving with the times… So this week I met with each hotel to hear and see what is being planned and what it means for you as our guests.
Rex Hotel
Today, following a 3 year development phase, the Rex is a historic landmark 5 star hotel with its perimeter walls now bordering 4 streets: Nguyen Hue, Le Thanh Ton, Pasteur and Le Loi. Guests will find the main entrance at 141 Nguyen Hue Boulevard. Facilities have now expanded to include: designer shops, 2 swimming pools, tennis court, spa, gym, a variety of courtyard cafes, piano bars and restaurants.In February next year, after Tet (New Year), a new phase of development is planned expecting to last 18 months. In part of the Old Wing you will see the carpets replaced by wooden flooring, with renovations to change the rooms to the more modern characteristics seen in the New Wing. Some welcome news is that whilst there are no connecting rooms in the Rex Hotel at the moment, these will be on offer following this development phase. The precise number of connecting rooms is not confirmed as yet as planning is still in progress.

Majestic Hotel
The Majestic Hotel is located at 1 Dong Khoi Street in District 1 and is a guest favourite. I was relieved to learn that the charm and history of this hotel is to be retained.A 3 year development phase is to start from January 2012. The land next door to the Majestic will become a new more modern hotel wing, with the existing hotel as the old wing. In fact, you can consider them as two hotels as they will each have their own entrance and reception area. Both will fall under the Majestic umbrella.In the new more modern wing there will be 24 floors. The first 4 floors will be meeting and dining areas and the top floor will be an inside coffee/lounge area giving fantastic views over the river. Floors 5 to 23 will be allocated for guest rooms. The new wing will also have its own swimming pool. 4 floors underground are planned for parking and shopping. All rooms will be double glazed and there will be a connecting corridor between the two wings. Guests will have use of the facilities in both wings.Grand Hotel
The Grand Hotel is located at 8 Dong Khoi Street in District 1. Development is well underway at this hotel and due to complete on 15th November 2011.The exisiting hotel is being referred to as the Ancient Wing with its old French colonial style. The new Luxury Wing has 20 new floors and is designed to be inkeeping with the similar style and high ceilings of the Ancient Wing. Floors 6 to 19 are allocated to guest rooms, whilst floors 1 to 6 are for function rooms, meeting areas, a casino… The swimming pool will remain in the Ancient Wing post development.Today there are no connecting rooms in this hotel. After development this will still be the case. An important change to mention is that we will see a new room type on offer in the New Wing. For families who are travelling you may be interested to learn that the new Family Suite will be on offer with maximum occupancy for 4 adults and an extra bed in the lounge area.We will be monitoring developments to help you make the best decisions for your holiday with us.

Hotel expansions post a great economic and tourism impact. This will attract tourists and can increase tourism campaigns of the area. Huge profit will be generated and there will be historical exposure at the same time.
