Bungalow Art Raffle!

We saw them mixing white paint today, which means we’re one step closer to having finished bungalows and meeting our grand opening goal of October 1st! For that to happen though I have to start decorating the rooms. As anyone who has stayed with us knows, I like minimalist, but pretty and of course I love themes! While we’ll reveal each rooms theme later, as we lead up to the grand opening, I need your help now. Joel Collins, an amazing photographer and the leader of the Strabo Photo Tour happening in January, has some amazing shots and I am choosing one to go in a bungalow.  The problem is I can’t choose, they’re all gorgeous! So below are the finalists and I am asking everyone to vote on their favorite. What’s in it for you you ask? Well don’t worry, on September 1st we will see which photograph got the most votes and it will be going up in one of our rooms, we will then have a raffle for everyone that voted and the winner will get a Joel Collins print to go in their own home. So help me choose a piece for Journeys Within Boutique Hotel and you get a piece for your house too! If you really want the print, then anyone that retweets our contest will get an additional entry and if you refer a friend to our blog, have them mention your name in the comment and they AND you will get an additional entry.

We will choose a winner September 1st – so get voting!

  1. Photo 6 gets my vote. I adore the monkey one but some people don’t like animals. They’re all amazing! You are always so creative, Andrea!

  2. I have to vote for the monkey ; ) I love the way it feels like you’re in a temple looking out to another temple. I think it would give the feeling of a window inside the bungalow. I’m in love with the Thailand photos, but i think the bungalows should feature Cambodia.

  3. I love #6! I would love to be sitting in the boat and take off on a little adventure. So beautiful. So peaceful.

  4. For some reason I am falling in love with #7. I think it is something about the composition!

  5. I love them all, but #6 gets my vote. There is so much simple detail in the picture it is really stunning.

  6. #6 is amazing..the colors are brillant yet calming. It looks like a very tranquil scene, perfect for a getaway.

  7. I really love the Thailand shots (love, love 5), but I agree that the photos that go in should be from Cambodia. It really is a hard one to chose between #3 and #4. For many different reasons I love #3 and almost want to choose it because of that, BUT I am going to choose #4. It is a classic shot and when I look at it I feel a calmness and it makes me want to smile. Also, I think it will go well with you minimalistic style.

  8. They’re all wonderful, but I’ll choose #5 because I like its calm simplicity. Even though it’s Thai, I can picture a similar scene on Tonle Sap.

  9. I love the #6 boats, it’s so relaxing and calm. Even though it’s not Cambodia, Thailand is one of your destination places.

  10. Have to go with #4, Bayon is my fave! I really like the monkey, but that could be the same little guy that attacked Mark at Angkor Wat, so if we ended up in that room he might have nightmares 🙂

  11. Tough choice! #6, 4 , and the monkey are my favorite but I am going to pick #6 (the boats). Seems so calm and relaxing.

  12. I love the one with the monkey at Angkor Wat because the little fella reminds me of my mate Longzie a.k.a Nicole Long, holding in down in Luang Prabang…i know no better 🙂 x

  13. Nicole Long in LP told me about this, the photos are wonderful. I vote for #6…the pinks are great.

  14. Thanks to Nicole Long from Journeys Within for letting us know about this fun competition. I like #5.

  15. You calling me a monkey James?!?! Well, I do have to admit that I like hanging out in trees.

  16. #5 is my favorite, I like this photo because you can see the life going on. You see the many colors of the view and the ocean. It looks like painting. Nicole told me to choose a photo.

  17. I am so in love with #6! Joel is fantastic though, they are all so pretty – its hard to choose just one!

  18. 4 from me
    5 from ash
love them all and really hope we get to come see it in situ! xxx

  19. Bayon is my favorite temple by far, and I think it’s the most fitting for a Siem Reap hotel. Number 4 gets my vote 🙂

  20. Thanks for letting me know about the competition Nicole! I vote for #6, so I could pretend I live in Thailand if it was hanging on my wall…

  21. Thanks for letting me know about the competition too, Nicole! They are all gorgeous, but for Siem Reap it should be Cambodia (unless we can have a hint about the theme, first?) But for a classic, serene image I really have to vote #4 too.

  22. Don’t we all wish we were living right there on those waters! Miss you Lola! Give hugs to Andy for me!

  23. Hope I am not too late! I love the water photos but for a bungalow at Journeys Within I have to go with a Cambodian theme, and I love the serenity of Bayon – so I go with Number 4 – now, as for which one I would like in my home…?
