We’re Seould

We left Cambodia at midnight on Saturday and headed to Seoul, Korea. We were traveling Asiana Airlines, a new airline for us, but it meant we went through Seoul and had a 9 hour layover. When I booked the flight they asked if I wanted a hotel room or a day tour. “Day tour!” I said with confidence. Now, flying at 35,000 feet at one in the morning with both kids sleeping on my lap I was rethinking this decision.

We arrived in Seoul and made it past the heat scanners to find the Asiana Airlines tour desk. They informed me that we would be leaving at 9am for our city tour…2 hours to go. They also took one look at my kids and asked if I would like to switch to a hotel room, I didn’t let myself think about it for too long, viva la Seoul!

After some donuts, watching as much of a movie as my computer would allow and generally driving each other crazy the tour leaders arrived and we all lined up.

Turns out there were about 40 people heading out to see the highlights of Seoul!

We had a fantastic day with a visit the the Baby Buddha Temple, the river that winds through downtown Seoul, a traditional Korean lunch complete with Kim Chee and a quick stop for shopping at the end of the day.

I haven't been on a bus tour in a while!

All in all Seoul was fun and we enjoyed not being on a plane for a few hours. It did mean that the journey was a long one and by the time we go to San Fran I was a bit loopy from lack of sleep. It also means that I enjoyed Seoul, but didn’t see enough. Honeeeey, how do you feel about a trip to Korea??… Read more »
