Quan Nuong BBQ – For locals and visitors in Saigon, Vietnam

By: Michelle Nguyen – Vietnam country director

A family visiting with Journeys Within recently told me how much they loved Quan Nuong and asked us to add the restaurant to our recommendations list in our guest welcome pack. I know my family and I certainly enjoy coming here and it is always busy with locals and visitors.  So, I thought I should give this Vietnamese BBQ hotspot a mention…

The entrance to Quan Nuong BBQ

If you are looking for a fun, energetic outdoors environment with delicious food at mid-range budget then this is a good choice.  Each table in the rooftop restaurant has a small circular table-top BBQ grill embedded in the middle. You can choose from the wide selection of meat, fish and vegetarian options available and cook your pre-marinated ingredients yourself on your personal BBQ, with the assistance of waiting staff as needed. How often do you get the opportunity to cook Vietnamese and to your perfection? If you like beer with your BBQ then try an ice cold local Saigon Red label beer… or two…and even if it rains you can stay relaxed as there is a large roof that extends to cover diners.

Enjoying the delicious BBQ

Don’t be surprised when there is an occasional break out of singing along to “happy birthday” music as this is typical whenever there is a Vietnamese birthday being celebrated. You may hear “mot, hai, ba, yo” to the raising of glasses. This literally means “1,2,3, yes”, but is the equivalent of our “cheers”.
Just do as the locals do and enjoy!
