Guest Blogger Jill Higson: Why I’m Going On This Trip And The Process So Far

We couldn’t be happier that one of our guests has decided to blog about her experience. Here Jill talks about the lead up to her first trip to Vietnam and Cambodia …

My name is Jill Higson and I live in New York City.

I am a passionate global adventures traveler, who has enjoyed the world – from Cuba to Fiji to Croatia with good friends, as well as by myself for the past 15 years.  I have planned this amazing 2014 holiday trip to Vietnam and Cambodia, with the incredible guidance and service from Andrea Ross, Founder of Journeys Within, along with the rest of her team.

I have chosen Vietnam and Cambodia for several reasons.  First and most importantly, they were my birth mother’s two favorite countries from the many she traveled to during her life.  Secondly, I have never been to Southeast Asia and would like to experience it, as well as give back to its countries through arts/culture site seeing, restaurants/shopping, non-profit volunteering, etc.  Finally, I want to be completely out of my element, trying to slow down and be in the moment (which is not easy to do living in the Big Apple!)

I look forward to sharing photos and commentary from my adventures with you.  From the breath taking to intense to crazy, I will do my best to capture these moments to the fullest both visually and in writing.

In the meantime, I am online shopping for final trip items, just received both of my visas (with easy submission and quick approval process!) and had my travel medical appointment (receiving preventive shots and pills).  Getting ready for the trip has been a full time job, but well worth the efforts for what I know will be a special and memorable experience in Southeast Asia!
