I know it’s the end of January, but I think you need a month to feel out the new year before making large commitments…let’s just say I’ve been dating 2009 and I am now ready to take it to the next level. Here are my new years commitments related to travel, I thought I could skip the ‘be nicer to my husband and dance more’ ones.

1. Return to our roots as a tour company and find some more budget conscious trips to ‘celebrate’ the recession and help people continue to travel.
2.Learn Khmer. I speak some Khmer, but I would like to be really good, otherwise my kids will be better than me and we can’t have that!
3. Write a blog entry per week. I have done so many great trips over the last year, but have not been dedicated enough in my writing.
4. Learn new skills as I travel.
5. Make our Give Before You Go tour options a success! Show travelers how giving back really makes the trip even better! (http://archive.journeys-within.com/community-support.html)
So now, in the spirit of my new years resolution be ready for a busy week. I am writing my backlog of entries…I am postdating them so you can see the actual date of travel (look for the fun things I learned on my last trip to Laos). I am heading to Phnom Penh tomorrow by bus! And back by boat! And will tell you all about the pros and cons of the budget options as I go.
